World-class tennis for everyone – SVT broadcasts the Stockholm Open

Swedish Television (SVT) and Stockholm Open have reached an agreement for the broadcast the 2022 tournament which will be played at the Royal Tennis Hall 15-23 October. The agreement means that SVT will host the broadcasting rights and show world-class tennis on its linear channels and via streaming channel SVT Play during the tournament week. Throughout the final weekend, the broadcasts will also be highlighted by SVT’s studio on site in the arena.

Stockholm Open was first held in the Royal Tennis Hall in 1969. Since then, the tournament has been the highlight of the year for Sweden's many tennis enthusiasts. Throughout the years many of tennis’ biggest names have played the Stockholm Open and last year's successful tournament offered many unforgettable matches, including a come-back by former world number one Andy Murray, up and coming Swedish hope Leo Borg and an entertaining final featuring the winner Tommy Paul.

For the 2022 tournament, the broadcasting rights for the Stockholm Open are back once again with SVT after nine years. With enormous reach throughout Sweden and large parts of the Nordic region, the collaboration makes tennis accessible to more viewers and is an important piece of the puzzle in Stockholm Open’s ambition to inspire the re-growth of tennis in Sweden.

In June, the first players for the 2022 tournament are expected to be announced. Thomas Enqvist, multiple Stockholm Open champion, is once again responsible for player recruitment and promises an exciting mix of players.
