Three quick questions with Thomas Enqvist – new Tournament Director from 2020
It's now finally official that you will be Tournament Director for the Stockholm Open 2020. That's great!
You have actually not just played, but also won the tournament a few times. But now you're back in a new role – how does it feel?
I am extremely motivated and glad to be a part of the new team that is going to develop this distinguished event and make it even better. The Stockholm Open was always my favourite tournament when I was actively playing and it is incredibly important for Swedish tennis.
What is your best memory from the Stockholm Open looking back?
I have such an incredible number of memories from SO but obviously, my first win was very special. I remember when my brother and I visited SO with our tennis club as young tennis players and I dreamed of playing in the tournament one day ... So the feeling when I got to lift the trophy in front of a full Royal Tennis Hall is definitely one of my strongest tennis memories!
What are you most looking forward to with the Stockholm Open 2020?
I am looking forward to a strong list of entrants which will offer the enthusiastic public fantastic tennis in a new and improved environment and a comprehensive experience from a more modern event, without taking away the classic feeling from one of the best Centre Courts in the world.
