Stockholm Open champion will return in 2021

Denis Shapovalov returns to the Stockholm Open 6-13 November

Stockholm Open can now present the next big tennis name for this year's tournament at the Royal Tennis Hall on November 6-13. The no. 10 ranked player Denis Shapovalov returns to the arena where, as recently as 2019, he was at the top of the podium. This making him the second player announced for the tournament, together with Olympic gold medalist and no. 4 ranked Alexander "Sascha" Zverev.

Through its more than 50-year history, the Stockholm Open has become a player favorite with the tennis elite, which Denis Shapovalov is a clear example of when he now chooses to return to the Royal Tennis Hall. The 22-year-old Canadian player is also the reigning Stockholm Open champion.

In Stockholm I won my first ATP title and therefore it is a very special place for me. Both in my memory and in my career. Now I am very much looking forward to coming back and playing in the Stockholm Open again, says Denis Shapovalov.

It has already been presented that the gold medalist from the Tokyo Olympics, and no 4 ranked on the ATP tour, Alexander Zverev will come to the Stockholm Open. Behind the signing of the two players is the Tournament Director Thomas Enqvist, himself a three-time winner of the Stockholm Open, and responsible for creating the best mix of players.

Denis is our defending champion and one of the most spectacular players on the tour and who in the past year has established himself in the absolute world top. We are of course incredibly satisfied and happy to bring another top 10 player to the Stockholm Open, says Thomas Enqvist.

Stockholm Open is played at the Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm on November 6-13, 2021. Tickets are available for purchase via tickster.com
